Abstract

There is a current tendency to presume an intrameatal origin for eighth nerve tumors. We have seen six surgically confirmed cases in which the internal auditory meatuses were normal in size. The tumors in these patients are felt to have arisen from a portion of the nerve trunk central to the internal auditory meatus.
