Abstract

This is a well-written and well-illustrated monograph detailing the surgical correction of internal and external deformities of the nose.

The surgical anatomy, embryology, and physiology of the nose are briefly discussed. The chapter on allergy deals with this subject somewhat superficially and in a rather confusing manner. No logical approach to diagnosing and managing this condition is offered. This deficiency does not, however, detract from the remainder of the book, which is an excellent, well-detailed and well-illustrated account of how to approach and treat the patient with a nasal deformity. Such discussions include the preoperative evaluation, including photographic techniques and equipment, how to recognize the anatomic derangement causing the deformity, and how to plan its surgical correction.
