To the Editor.—Regarding "Correction of the Traumatically Abducted Vocal Cord" by Kamer and Som in the January 1972 issue of the Archives (95:6-9) there is little doubt that they offer a good method of mediofixation of the scarred, abducted vocal cord. It is equally true that some cases of scarred cords cannot be augmented with the Teflon-Glycerine injection method. However, some can be successfully treated by injection.
I would submit that their excellent operation should be used only if injection has been tried without success. Injection with Teflon is less complicated, less traumatic.
