Simultaneous Bilateral Radical Neck Dissection: Preservation of the External Jugular Vein

Preservation of the external jugular vein in the course of simultaneous bilateral radical neck dissection is both rational and practical. Two cases in which this was accomplished are presented. Functional patency is demonstrated in the immediate postoperative period in both cases and six months postoperatively in one.
