Experience with cryosurgical techniques in the management of 64 patients with malignant tumors of the head and neck is reported with particular attention directed to 41 patients with recurrent tumors of the oral cavity following conventional therapy.
The primary tumor was controlled in 16 patients while persistent disease resulted in the death of 21 others. There were four deaths in a total of 52 patients treated for cure, resulting in a mortality rate of 8%.
