This study was designed to determine the response of diabetic patients (without significant hearing loss) to Bekesy audiometry over the frequency range of 500 to 2,000 Hz. Amplitude of Bekesy tracings from the diabetic with cardiovascular disease was significantly larger than those produced by normals, diabetics without complications, and cardiovascular patients without diabetes. The tracings from the latter three groups were statistically indistinguishable from one another.
