This 226-page monograph on acromegaly is divided into three chapters: Chapter 1 discusses the preoperative evaluation, operative techniques, and the pre- and postoperative course of transantrosphenoidal surgical procedures in 80 acromegalic patients. Chapter 2 gives a detailed ultrastructural analysis of 51 pituitary adenomas removed in acromegalic patients (by the transantrosphenoidal operation), and chapter 3 provides a clinical review and follow-up study of 80 patients with acromegaly treated by transantrosphenoidal operation. The illustrations are profuse and extremely well done.
This volume should prove extremely valuable to all who deal with surgical management of acromegaly and is highly recommended.
