This textbook by Prof Fleury represents an encyclopedia of middle ear surgery according to his experiences and concepts. Professor Fleury is Chief of the Otolaryngology Service at the Bachat Hospital in Paris.
The book is written in French and in English. There are seven chapters. The first chapter is concerned with stapedectomy. The second is concerned with surgical treatment of otitis media. Chapter three is concerned with tympanoplasty in the dry ear. Chapter four reviews the surgeon's concepts for tympanoplasty in the chronically draining ear. Chapters five, six, and seven are concerned with facial nerve surgery, surgery for glomus jugulare or glomus tympanimcum tumors, and surgery for exostoses or osteomas of the ear. The illustrations outline the procedures well. This is a book primarily of one surgeon's techniques. No results are presented. The reader must sort out those concepts that may be of value to him or her. No especially
