Abstract

To the Editor.—I recently read an article entitled "Bilateral Synchronous Mixed Tumors of the Parotid Gland" by Brill and Fitz-Hugh, which appeared in the Archives (101:751-753, 1975). In their "review of the literature," the authors found only three cases of bilateral mixed tumors of the parotid glands. They failed to cite a recent and comprehensive review of the literature on this subject that was published in this very journal (94:158-161, 1971). In this article by Becker and Tabb, 14 cases of bilateral mixed tumors of the parotid glands were found documented in the literature, all occurring within the superficial lobes. An unusual 15th case of bilateral benign mixed tumors of the deep lobe of the parotid glands was reported for interest.

I will continue to read the Archives of Otolaryngology with great interest.
