This 2,311-page, hard cover, bound volume is a collection of the papers presented at the Symposium of Cancer of the Head and Neck held in Baltimore, September 1973, sponsored by the Education Foundation of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, Inc. This 1973 Symposium was the third such head and neck cancer program sponsored by this organization. These symposia have been designed for the surgical resident and the young practicing surgeon, but their value is certainly by no means exclusive of the mature practitioner of head and neck oncology. The editors and most authors are plastic surgeons, with the work of a fair number of general surgeons and a scattering of otolaryngologists also represented. Except for a few chapters dealing with the nonsurgical treatment of cancer, the papers are heavily oriented toward the surgical management of head and neck tumors. Most of the malignant tumor problems of the
