This is the second edition of a textbook that has become a standard reference source since the time of its publication, 15 years ago. It has been updated, enlarged, and improved by the authors (a dermatologist and a dental pathologist).
The book begins with a fine series of six chapters covering the relevant basic science information. The subsequent 33 chapters cover the broad scope of localized oral pathologic lesions and oral manifestations of systemic disease with groups of chapters covering infectious processes, granulomatous diseases, autoimmune disorders, nutritional deficiency states, metabolic disorders, degenerative processes, and malignant neoplasms.
For most otolaryngologists, this is an area in which we lack training, but that comes up all too often in the course of clinical practice.
