This set of texts has handsome, sturdy bindings with the inclusive pages of each volume marked on the spine. Each volume contains the complete table of contents and an extensive index for all four volumes.

Volume 3 covers three main topics, as the subtitle indicates. Each of these three topics is further subdivided into four areas: "Basic Science," "Diagnostic Assessment," "Clinical Entities," and "Special Considerations." The integration of anatomy and physiology with the clinical considerations of function and malfunction is easier to assimilate this way than when basic sciences are relegated to a separate volume.

Standard diagnostic and therapeutic information is presented clearly with numerous diagrams and photographs. The section on the larynx covers newer diagnostic techniques well, including video fiberoptic laryngoscopy. It also includes useful photographs of the clinical setups for some common procedures.
