With this issue we bring you a new feature, Head and Neck Society News, a newsletter from the American Society for Head and Neck Surgery (ASHNS), which will appear regularly in the Archives. Each report will contain items of interest about head and neck surgery in general, along with ASHNS news. We hope you will find these items to be both interesting and entertaining.

These regular columns represent our commitment to provide expanded services to our membership. At a recent long-range planning retreat, your Council established the following priorities: (1) continued growth of the society while maintaining high standards; (2) evaluate the possibility of hiring an association manager; and (3) evaluate the possibility of establishing an executive office for the ASHNS in Washington, DC. It is anticipated that the ASHNS Council will establish a task force at our next meeting to study these issues and make recommendations regarding future actions.
