Greenfield Sluder and Subtotal Tonsillectomy

I read with interest the recent article by Chan et al¹ on intracapsular tonsillectomy using low-temperature plasma excision. In the introduction to the article, the authors state that “subtotal tonsillectomy is an old technique that was popularized by Greenfield Sluder, MD, in 1920.” I believe that if Sluder were alive today to comment, he would strongly disagree with that statement.
