The following case is reported because of the rarity of this type of tumor in the ileum and because of the severity of its clinical manifestations. The exact diagnosis is histologic, and we can find nothing in the gross character of the tumor to suggest its nature. Clinically, it is a case of intestinal obstruction in early life. An extensive review of the literature of the last forty-six years yields reports of a similar tumor of the stomach by Cignozzi1 (1905), Morris2 (1910) and Sherrill and Graves3 (1915), but no report of such a tumor in the ileum.
