The first part of this book consists of menus for reducing diets. These diets can be prepared in the home and do not seem to be monotonous. Specific directions are given as to the amount to be eaten, and these diets are safe from the standpoint of calories, minerals and vitamins. The second part of the book, entitled "The Nature of a Correct Diet," consists of chapters on the relation of food to the body weight, the nature of a protective diet and the various elements of food making up a good diet. Lastly, the author discusses how to plan a protective diet for weight reduction and the selection of food. At the present time, when the subject of diet seems to be the chosen field of the quack and faddist, it is refreshing to read a book in which the essential facts are stated in a simple and readable
