This book was written primarily to guide practicing physicians in the recognition and intelligent treatment of the diseases of infants and children. The author covers the entire field of pediatrics briefly and clearly, giving special attention to diagnosis and to practical therapeutic measures. A good chapter on growth and development and a concise discussion of foods and food requirements add greatly to the value of the book. The last 125 pages are devoted to the drugs used in pediatric practice; they contain exact advice as to administration and a description of therapeutic procedures, including directions for preparation of food mixtures.
It is not a textbook, but as a reliable book for quick reference it serves a practical purpose. It will be extremely useful from that standpoint to general practitioners and to pediatricians as well.
