This monograph, a special issue of Blood, The Journal of Hematology, represents a series of papers on the various aspects of the Rh factor presented at the International Conference on Hematology and the Rh Factor in Dallas, Texas, and México, D. F., Mexico, in 1946. All are authoritative and stimulating presentations contributed by recognized leaders in their respective fields.
The first paper concerns itself with a survey of the significance of the Rh factor written by Philip Levine, a former pupil of Karl Landsteiner, the pioneer in the immunologic aspects of blood and red cell factors. This is a comprehensive but terse presentation documenting 100 contributions to the subject, including the author's own basic work.
