If I'm lucky, the weekly issue of JAMA arrives before lunch on Thursday. That way I have the time as I munch on my sandwich and unwind from the morning's patients to scan the cover art, to peruse the poem, and finally, to savor the short, thought-provoking essay that is the week's "A Piece of My Mind." I will eventually get to the abstracts and articles, but these essays provide me with an island of reflection and grace that I truly cherish. Imagine my pleasure in reviewing this collection!
