As parents of a child with an autism disorder, we have personally experienced the benefits of early intervention and can attest to the positive effect it has had on our son’s trajectory toward a productive, successful, and independent life. While we are neither physicians nor social workers, we could not agree more completely with the conclusions of the article in this issue of JAMA Pediatrics by Piccininni et al1 on the cost-effectiveness of reducing wait times for autism treatment.
