To the Editor I agree with Janevic et al,1 who state that conventional analyses, carried out in the restricted cohort of very preterm infants, underestimate racial/ethnic disparities in neonatal morbidities because they ignore differences in the baseline risk of being born preterm. To correct this problem, they suggest using a fetuses-at-risk approach.
