Quality pediatric health care is prevention oriented, child centered, family centered, and designed to help children become healthy adults rather than simply treat them when they are sick.1 Pediatricians have long recognized the importance of family, home, school, and community environments, and growing evidence of the lifelong health effects of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) has reinforced the need for approaches that coordinate care for children in the context of their family and community.2
