To the Editor I read with interest the difference-in-differences analysis of youth smoking and a ban on sales of flavored tobacco products in San Francisco, California, by Friedman.1 While I believe the article presents a hypothesis worthy of scientific study, there are 2 main reasons I believe the conclusions drawn from this study should be tempered.
