Our objective in submitting the recent case report1 to the ARCHIVES was to reinforce the notion that salpingitis must be considered in the differential diagnosis of all young women of reproductive age with lower abdominal pain. We also suggested that sexual activity is not a mandatory prerequisite for this condition. In doing so, we hoped to remind clinicians how important it is to expediently diagnose and treat these patients because of the potential negative ramifications their conditions may have on their reproductive futures. We regret this was not clear to some readers. The following comments specifically address the concerns of Bravender et al.
