This volume consists of a transcription of lectures which constituted a postgraduate course in clinical endocrinology at the University of California Medical School. Some 30 lecturers contributed.

In their preface, the editors state that: "This book is not intended for the medical student, nor for the research investigator, nor for the clinical endocrinologist who would find little in these pages with which he was not already familiar."
