The book "An Atlas of Cardiac Surgery" prepared by Jorge A. Rodriguez, M.D., is a most lucid outline of current cardiac surgical techniques presented in atlas form. In the preface the author acknowledges that it might seem unwise to attempt to compile an atlas of standard procedures in cardiac surgery in view of the rapidly changing techniques. Nevertheless, it was the author's conviction that a compilation of current established procedures would be of value to all physicians, regardless of their particular field. In this, the author has admirably succeeded.
The book is divided into six basic sections. The first section of the book, dealing with surgical anatomy of the heart and great vessels, is particularly valuable because the drawings are based upon the author's own dissections.
