Abstract

This volume, which contains the papers and transcriptions of the panel discussions of the conference, brings together expert opinions on a wide range of topics concerning cancer. The conference, fourth in a series co-sponsored by The American Cancer Society and The National Cancer Institute, had as its purpose the gathering of clinical and laboratory workers to consider recent accomplishments and current problems in all aspects of cancer. These proceedings supplement this goal admirably. The subject matter is well organized and arranged; the papers include complete data and references, and the reproductions are excellent.

The clinical sessions were concerned with cancer of the breast, lung, genitalia, gastrointestinal tract, skin, and head and neck, and with leukemia and lymphoma. The last mentioned panel included a discussion of childhood lymphosarcoma and Hodgkin's disease, but tumors of the pediatric age group as clinical problems were not otherwise considered.
