Clifford Grosselle Grulee was born in Newport, Ky, Jan 3, 1880.
The Grulee family moved to one or two other places until his parents finally settled in Oxford, Ohio, where "Cliff" grew up, attended school and college. In 1897, the family moved to La Grange, Ill, a suburb of Chicago. "Cliff" stayed on at Miami until he graduated from college in 1899. He then entered Northwestern University Medical School and graduated "cum laude" in 1903. In 1901, as a result of studies in Physiological Chemistry which he carried on during summer vacations he was granted the degree of MA by Miami University.
He was initiated in Beta Theta Pi in June 1895.
In 1905, he became National Secretary of Phi Rho Sigma, a position he held until 1912. He was elected president in 1916 and served until 1919.
