This is the fourth edition of this short book which is not intended to be a regular textbook. The contents have been extensively revised and brought up to date. The new pharmacologic agents are included, and a new chapter has been added on genetics and inborn errors of metabolism.
Almost all of the material is presented in a modified outline or tabular form. In general, this is well done and is adequate for the purposes for which the book is intended. However, some of the material concerning growth and development and particularly the psychological aspects of child care seem superficial and rigid.
The most valuable aspect of the book for students is the development of review questions for each chapter. These have been revised and are now entirely objective in type.
