This volume of 469 pages records the scientific papers presented at the First All-Asian Congress of Pediatrics, held in New Delhi in January, 1961. Altogether, a total of 90 contributions have been gathered together to make up the treatise. This reviewer wishes to support in a wholehearted manner the comments in the Foreword expressed by Fanconi of Zurich. The congress was important in bringing together into an organization of great potential for the future hundreds of physicians concerned with the health of hundreds of millions of children in India and other Asian countries. At the same time the book cannot be recommended as constructive reading for American pediatricians. In perusing most of the papers and particularly in noting the references to contemporary and past literature, this reviewer was painfully aware of the limitation imposed on the authors by the lack of adequate libraries.
