This excellent book is a fairly complete compendium of the literature and personal experiences in the field of cerebral palsy. It is primarily directed to the practitioners who follow these patients, in particular the orthopedic surgeon and the physician in charge of the rehabilitation of the patient. There are some portions of the book devoted to the background, ie, history, diagnosis, incidence, and etiology of these problems. The bulk of the volume, however, is devoted to specifics of therapy and could serve as background to the pediatrician directing therapy to give him some idea as to what to expect from a given form of treatment.
Much of the book is obviously based on the observations of Dr. W. M. Phelps who has been in the forefront of the pioneers interested in this complex of maladies. It is well written. If it has any deficiencies one would be the dearth of
