Abstract

The second edition of Shirkey's Pediatric Therapy, following the original edition by only two years, lives up to the original promise of the editor and publisher to provide frequent and timely revision of a subject that is necessarily changing rapidly with advances in the treatment of many of the diseases of childhood. Many revisions, some major, have been made in the original articles; additional chapters on behavior disorders, pediatric neurosurgery, and pediatric orthopedics have been included in the current edition. The errors, which were few, have been corrected, and other chapters on various infections, teratology, pharmacogenetics, specific antimicrobial therapy, and hyperbilirubinemia have also been added to make what was a very comprehensive treatise on pediatric therapy even more complete.
