The large number of communications currently being received in the office of the Editor render it desirable to repeat—and by repeating to emphasize—the criteria for the selection of announcements that can be published in the News and Comment section of the Journal. The criteria are:
Pediatric in orientation.
Regional or national in scope.
200 words or less in length.
Noncommercial in nature.
In addition to the foregoing criteria it is necessary to point out that, to appear on a printed page, announcements must pass through the hands of editors, printers, and other technical personnel. Those who prepare the announcements are, therefore, asked to follow the same general rules as apply in the submission of manuscripts. A brief heading to be printed in bold type should be indicated and the typing should be double or triple spaced with margins ample for editorial notations. Material should be submitted
