This book edited by a NeuroOphthalmologist, is a symposium in early January 1966 sponsored by the Department of Ophthalmology of the University of Miami. The 19 contributors spoke on subjects in which they were interested. There was an emphasis on pediatric neuro-ophthalmology and pediatric neuropathology. Contained in this book are discussions of diseases which are not usually associated with pediatric medicine. This will represent no problem to a pediatrician using the book as a reference since the material related to primarily adult entities is in separate chapters.
The chapter on the extraocular muscles and their diseases by David Cogan of Boston, discusses ocular physical findings of myasthenia gravis, pituitary-thyroid dysfunction, connective tissue disease, and glycogen-storage diseases. This discussion is basic, easily followed, and retained.
The chapter on roentgen diagnosis of changes of the sphenoidal strut in the presence of chiasmal lesions has much useful clinical application.
