Abstract

It has been two years since the publication of volume 1 of this series, designed to keep physicians and medical students abreast of current developments in the diagnosis and management of diabetes mellitus. The book is published by the American Diabetes Association and edited by their committee on Professional Education. The second volume is somewhat expanded in size and scope and retains the general format of the first volume.

Its chapters are short and the authors have had to strive hard to accomplish their allotted tasks in so few pages. The list of authors is quite impressive, and each author has given considerable thought to summarizing his topic. By bringing so many contributors together in one book, the editors have given the general reader an insight into the magnitude of interest in diabetes and the special field of interest of each author.
