Abstract

A Modern Pilgrim's Progress With Further Revelations for Diabetics by Garfield G. Duncan, now in a second edition, is published primarily for the use of patients in understanding their disease. Because of the overwhelming preponderance of adult diabetics within the total group of such patients, only one or two pages of this text are specifically oriented to the child with diabetes. The material is presented in the form of a story about a social worker who has been diabetic since her early adult life. She works for a physician, who has special interests in diabetes, and through the mechanism of the story of her life plus vignettes of her contacts with many patients who have diabetes, a great variety of problems are defined and discussed in the pages of this book.
