To the Editor.—We are delighted with the interesting notation of Dr. Gillian Turner related to our statement that the oto-palato-digital (OPD) syndrome was probably autosomal recessive but that we could not rule out X-linkage. The apparently normal mother of the halfbrothers described by Dr. Turner does, in fact, suggest that the disorder is X-linked. However, I have recently seen a full-blown example in a female subject and have corresponded concerning a German case of the complete syndrome in a female (Jäger M, Refiore HJ: Ein Knochendysplasia Syndrom. Z Orthop105:196-208, 1968). In a recent publication (Birth Defects Original Article Series, vol 5, No. 3, 1969, pp 43-44), Dr. Jon Aase posited that the disorder was dominant (autosomal or X-linked) since he observed the syndrome in a mother and her two sons.
