This book consists of several independent chapters on the current status of some areas of endocrinology in relation to adolescence. In the absence of cross-references or editing to introduce a cohesive relationship between chapters, it is difficult to decide for whom the book was intended. Some sections definitely are for the expert who, in a limited field, would more likely refer to articles in journals for recent work. Some of the chapters are more likely to be useful to pediatricians and internists who serve as physicians to adolescents.

The chapter on Regulation of Testicular Function by Mortimer B. Lipsett provides a good brief discussion of the subject, with references for those seeking more detail. C. Wayne Hardin's section on Testicular Failure is clinically oriented and should be helpful in clarifying a patient's problem.
