Abstract

To the Editor—I read with interest Dr. Burry's article "Gonococcal Vulvovaginitis and Possible Peritonitis in Prepubertal Girls" in the June issue (Amer J Dis Child121:536-537, 1971). In 1939 we1 published a series of 112 cases. We found five definite and five strongly suggestive cases of salpingitis and pelvic peritonitis. This yields a percentage incidence of 9%, almost identical to the 10% reported by Burry.

Old truths have to be rediscovered from time to time. Burry's article is a very timely reminder.
