Abstract

There are a number of dermatoglyphic patterns that occur more frequently in certain syndromes than in the general population. The relative frequencies of various dermatoglyphic features have been reviewed for nine chromosomal disorders, three single-gene defects, three syndromes of unknown cause, and one caused by an environmental teratogen. The data are presented in a form that may aid the clinician in arriving at a diagnosis.
