To the Editor.  —Miss Edna Mae McIntosh, RD, of the Gerber Products Company, has written us to call attention to an error in our recent report, "Dietary Dependent Neonatal Hypocalcemia" (Am J Dis Child 123:472-474, 1972). Miss McIntosh notes that we have confounded fluid (volume) and dry weight measurements. Thus, our statement (page 473), "At 6 days of age feedings thickened with 1 ounce of rice cereal per 4 ounces of formula were introduced," would have been more precise had we said, "feedings thickened with two level tablespoonsful (5 gm) of dry rice cereal per four liquid ounces of formula."Our error was compounded in the calculations of the effect of rice cereal on the calcium and phosphorus content of an infant formula as shown in the table on page 473.
