In this second edition of a very concise presentation of the subject, the author has attempted to bring more of the information on the subject of "the battered child" up to date. As before, emphasis is on the social and preventive measures largely because these are the areas where advances have been made, and these, together with the legal aspects, have experienced the major additions.
The chief deficiency as a "source book" is the failure to document by superscripts the specific items in the bibliography, which has been expanded considerably since the first edition. Thus, the volume continues to be a concise orientation and an indepth study, with support of the statements inadequately indicated.
