This book is written in a unique manner being only 237 pages in length. The author has made an extreme effort to cover every aspect of an extremely difficult pathological process—hydrocephalus. He includes basic physiological concepts, pathogenesis, pathology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment.
Each section at its conclusion contains a brief summary which is unique in textbooks, offering statements based on fundamental research, experience, and well thought out conclusions. The first chapter is exceptional and one of excellent reading in regard to modern cerebrospinal fluid physiology. Although the following chapters are summaries at times of a vast amount of reported literature, the author still maintains his own opinions and supports them extremely well. The chapter on pathology could be reorganized and the author's attempt to be clear or redefine old classics (Russell, D.) will confuse the inexperienced student; on the other hand, most paragraphs have material well worth remembering.
