Abstract

A patient developed Herpesvirus hominis type 1 encephalitis 15 months after the onset of herpetic keratitis treated with idoxuridine. Both the herpetic keratitis and encephalitis were on the left side. This unique case raises important questions regarding the treatment of herpetic keratitis and the pathogenesis of herpesvirus encephalitis.
