Drs. Begemann and Rastetter have revised the original Atlas Der Klinischer Hämatologie und Cytologie of Heilmeyer and Begemann originally published in 1955. The new edition entitled Atlas of Clinical Hematology uses many of the original plates but now incorporates a concise, descriptive text next to each of the illustrations rather than in a separate volume—a vast improvement. The scope of the book is appropriate for the practicing clinical hematologist, and the editors have justifiably removed the sections in the first edition on vaginal, gastric, and liver cytology. The book is divided into two sections. The first deals with methodology, and includes bone marrow aspiration techniques and standard staining procedures. The second and major section contains the illustrations—primarily composite drawings with supportive photomicrographs.
