Clinical Dermatology is an attempt to extend to dermatology the looseleaf system of text that can be periodically brought up to date by supplements and revisions. Only the initial work (four volumes and an index volume) is printed as yet. The expense of one set of revisions, due in about 1974, is included in the initial price.
Like all texts today, this is a collection of matching articles written by dozens of authors. Some contributors, naturally, are better and more interesting authors, but for the most part, the format and content of the articles are uniform enough to produce a pleasing and satisfying whole. There is no jarring effect of greatly differing styles from one author to another, which makes for easier reading. The text seems unhurried and is enhanced by tangential discussions on pertinent subjects such as bacteria purpura and sun sensitivity. Photographs are plentiful, though in black and
