SIDS 1974 is a collection of 37 papers dealing with the pathology, epidemiology, developmental physiology, and human values and new directions concerning sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS). Twenty-five of the papers were presented formally at the Francis E. Camps International Symposium on Sudden and Unexpected Deaths in Infancy, which was held in Toronto, May 15 through 17, 1974. The symposium was held in honor of the late professor of forensic medicine in the University of London at London Hospital Medical College who had contributed so significantly to the understanding of the cause of infant deaths. Three prior international symposia on SIDS had been held in 1963, 1969, and 1970.
A listing of this symposium's guest faculty, presenters, and discussants, representing the basic sciences and clinical medicine, includes most of the major contributors to our current knowledge of all aspects of SIDS. They were joined by others, totaling 250 persons, representative of
