• A program used at the University of California Irvine Medical Center for the initial pediatric evaluation and management of sexually abused children is offered as one possible model for other training centers. Cases of 100 sexually abused children seen by pediatric residents are reviewed. The program defines and delimits the role of the resident, details the expectations for acceptable medical care, and offers psychological support to the young physician.
