Here the authors have attempted to produce a concise atlas of relevant information concerning bone dysplasias identifiable at birth. They have been moderately successful. Most of the case material is derived from practical experience in the departments of Radiology and Genetics, the University of Capetown Medical School, South Africa. There are 50 figures containing 107 radiographic pictures, 12 clinical pictures, two schematic diagrams, one sonographic picture, and one line drawing. References at the end of each chapter are limited to recent specific articles and general reviews. A short list of other relevant references and monographs is listed in the appendix. The atlas uses both the 1969 and the revised 1977 Paris Nomenclature for Constitutional Diseases of Bone for terminology and for chapter arrangement of specific dysplasias.
