As its editor-in-chief, Gil has brought to the Journal the skills of a broadly based scholar, a perceptive eye for statistical methods, and a demanding taste for precision in grammar and brevity in expression. And how we've enjoyed Madge Ewell's tea and tactics! Work on the Journal has taken enormous amounts of Gil's time, disposed as he is to make each article meet his high standards.
